2023 Volunteer Appreciation Spotlight

Celebrating Outstanding Volunteers: Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Awards 2023

In a heartwarming ceremony filled with gratitude and admiration, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated the remarkable contributions of its volunteers at the Volunteer Appreciation Awards 2023. The event, held to honor those whose dedication and passion have propelled the organization's mission forward, showcased the incredible impact of volunteerism within the community.

The ceremony commenced with a special announcement by Mark Achinger, Construction Director, who revealed the recipient of the Outstanding Volunteer in Home Construction Award. With enthusiasm and pride, Mark introduced Terrak LeBlanc, highlighting his exceptional leadership, effectiveness, and unwavering teamwork. Terrak's tireless dedication and positive attitude on build sites have made him an invaluable asset to the organization,earning him well-deserved recognition and applause from the audience.

Following this, Emily Buller, Program Director, took the stage to present the Outstanding Committee Volunteer Award. With great admiration, Emily spoke of Kenny Green's outstanding commitment to the Homeowner Selection Committee and the Homeowner Support Committee. Kenny's advocacy for affordable housing and his active involvement in various community initiatives have made a significant impact, earning him heartfelt applause and appreciation from all present.

The Spirit of Habitat Award, a testament to the essence of volunteerism, was then bestowed upon Sharon Knox. Recognized for her unwavering positivity, tireless commitment, and acts of kindness, Sharon's exemplary service embodies the true spirit of Habitat for Humanity. Her selflessness and dedication have touched the lives of many, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps and make a difference in the community.

Continuing the celebration, Lauren Clarke, a board member, presented the prestigious Community Impact Award to Owens Corning. Acknowledging the organization's outstanding contributions and dedication to Habitat's mission, Lauren praised their generosity and commitment to building homes and spreading kindness within the community.

As the evening progressed, Tom Farmer, ReStore Director, honored Mary Jo Boyd with the Outstanding Volunteer in ReStore Award. Mary Jo's dedication and enthusiasm have significantly enhanced operations at ReStore, earning her recognition and appreciation from her colleagues.

The highlight of the evening came with the induction of Jack Lindberg into the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Hall of Fame. Jack's exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the organization's mission have left an indelible mark on the community, inspiring others to follow his example.

The ceremony culminated with the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year Award to Phill Sheffield. Phill's selflessness, dedication, and compassion have made a profound impact on the organization and the community at large, earning him well-deserved recognition and applause.

As the event concluded, attendees left with hearts full of gratitude and inspiration, reminded of the transformative power of volunteerism and the profound impact it has on building stronger, more vibrant communities.
