Being a homeowner with MVHFH requires hard work and dedication! Future Homeowners must complete 250 sweat equity hours in the ReStore and on build sites, and attend 20 monthly classes.

When does MVHFH build?MVHFH builds year-round! Even in the colder months, our construction team, core crew, and volunteers are hard at work. Home builds and home repair projects continue throughout the year as much as time and logistics allow. When we don’t have Playhouse Project groups working, Playhouse Kit-Making is happening on-site.

MVHFH serves all of Lucas County, but much of our work is focused in four specific neighborhoods. These neighborhoods have been identified by the City of Toledo as Neighborhood Revitilization Strategy Areas. To learn more visit: https://bit.ly/COTnrsa

While most people know Habitat for Humanity for our new home builds, we also work to preserve and repair homes! Through our Home Preservation program we work with current homeowners to repair roofs, abate lead, and get homes up to current code standards.
-
Our work is funded in a variety of ways. Through local, state, and federal grants, through corporate donors (both material and financial), and individual donations. Visit our "Donate" page to learn more about the many ways individuals can make the work of MVHFH possible.
-
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit Christian housing organization. However, you do not need to be Christian to work with Habitat for Humanity affiliates. We have a policy of building with people regardless of race or religion and welcome volunteers and supporters of all backgrounds. Click here to learn more about our non-proselytizing policy.
-
Habitat for Humanity does NOT give away homes for free! We build homes and then sell them to homeowners at a 0% interest mortgage. MVHFH then acts as the mortgage lender and these mortgage payments help fund our affordable housing initiatives.
