Imagine traveling across the country in an RV, but in addition to exploring, you're also helping to change lives. That's the reality for the Gausmans as they take their maiden voyage in Habitat for Humanity's new RV Care-A-Vanners program.

Two volunteers have traveled across the state to volunteer with MVHFH Leadership Build through the RV Care-A-Vanners program.

Five local children-focused organizations will receive funding from the Greater Toledo Classic golf tournament this year. "When you think of building a home, you don't think of children, but all of our homeowners have children. That's why they want to build a home, " Erin McPartland, executive director of the non-profit, said.

"The Toledo housing market hsa surged over the last 12 months. 'The starter home no longer really exists,' said Erin McPartland, the executive director of Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.

In 2013 Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity (MVHFH) added roof replacements to their affordable housing initiatives in Lucas County. On May 29, MVHFH celebrated the completion of its 500th replacement.

The elaborate playhouses, 29 in all, were part of the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity's Playhouse Project's 8th annual Blitz Build.

More than a dozen organizations and the WTOL 11 team helped to build several playhouses, which will go to local families.

WTOL 11 is one of 28 organizations from across Lucas County that will participate in Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity's Playhouse Project Blitz Build on Thursday.
