Local book club launches Read to Build campaign

Orchard Book Club invites all community book club women to join them in helping support the 2023 Women Build.
Read to Build seeks to involve book club women in building community, both literally and figuratively, by banding together in support of Habitat for Humanity's Women Build Project. Women Build empowers women to build Habitat for Humanity homes for women who are single heads of their households.
Support can be solely financial but comes with the choice to participate in the building project later this summer if desired. Book clubs can combine resources with other book clubs to support a Build Day. The club will be hosting a reading group discussion about the book This is All I Got, by Lauren Sandler, which chronicles one woman’s search for a home.
When: Monday, May 15, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Where: Plate One 420 Madison Avenue #104 Toledo, OH 43604
Who: Nate Reid, Corporate Engagement Manager, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity
Karin Jacobson, Orchard Book Club member
Why: By initiating Read to Build, Orchard Book Club and Habitat for Humanity hope to generate both awareness and action around the problem of housing and build a caring community of women in the process.
