Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity wins Torch Award

Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity is a Torch Award recipient for Ethics with the Better Business Bureau serving Northwestern and West Central Ohio and Southeastern Michigan.

The Torch Award is open to for-profit businesses that serve the public through retail or wholesale markets and tax-exempt, non-profit, charitable organizations that meet the BBB’s 20 Standards for Charitable Accountability.  The nominated company or organization must have been in business a minimum of 3 years and be located in the Northwestern Ohio or Southeastern Michigan service area.  BBB accreditation is NOT required.

"This is tremendous recognition for our leadership team at Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity," Michael McIntyre, Executive Director.

To date 77 area businesses and organizations have received the coveted Torch Award.   Glass artist, Michael Wallace creates an original piece of art for each Torch Award recipient.

An independent panel of volunteer community leaders selects the 2021 recipients based on criteria established nationally by the International Association of Better Business Bureaus.  The winners are announced at the luncheon event.  This year close to 100 nominations were received.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit the BBB Foundation for Ethics and the many services it provides for the community such as the Charity Giving Guide, Senior Programs and the award winning program “In Pursuit of Ethics.”
