F3 Black Swamp Hike for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity

F3 is a national network of free, peer-led workouts for men. The F3 Black Swamp is a group of hundreds of high impact men aged early 20's all the way up to mid 60's. The Black Swamp group of 15 + men gathered in the dark at the wee hour of 5:00AM last month to "ruck" (hike with weighted backpack) 15 miles.

Along the way, they, performed exercises like push ups/sit ups. The event, dubbed "CSAUP" (which stands for "Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless) was actually anything but that. It was carefully designed to challenge all who participated put in a good workout, get to know others in the group better, and give to a good cause. The last leg of the ruck involved carrying lumber and cases of bottled water to be donated to Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity as an added challenge. The men of F3 Black Swamp donated 20+ 2x4's, 20 cases of bottled water, and $275.00 toward additional supplies.

F3 Black Swamp consists of men from the Toledo area who gather multiple times per week for open, free, outdoor workouts for a physical and spiritual challenge and also to cultivate community. F3 stands for "Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith," but it is open to all men regardless of social, religious, or economic status. These men have committed to 500 hours of volunteering at Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity in 2021, and have already logged many hours toward that goal despite the winter off season.
