Donate to ReStore
When you donate your item to ReStore, you are helping to make safe and decent housing possible for everyone. All profits from ReStore are used to support our Homeownership Program and our Home Preservation Ministry. And by donating to ReStore, you are also kinder to the environment. For every $1 in ReStore sales, an estimated 1.3 pounds of waste material is kept from a landfill.
How Do I Donate?
Drop Off Your Donation
Bring your donation to our ReStore (1310 Conant Street, Maumee, OH 43537) Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. ANY ITEM IN NEED OF REPAIR
Items don't need to be perfect - a small cosmetic flaw or some gentle wear is generally acceptable - but damaged items aren't accepted. We're delighted to offer our ReStore as a place to divert acceptable, usable items from the landfill. As we resell the items, they help fund our Homeownership and Home Preservation Programs in Lucas County. We simply do not have resources available to rescue or "restore" items to saleable condition or cover the costs of their disposal. Thank you.

Attic Ladders
-
Baby Furniture & Accessories

Goodwill
Salvation Army
Church Women United
St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store
Toledo Humane Society Thrift Store -
Beds
Headboards
Platform or Waterbed Frames
Captain Beds
Bunk Beds
Wood or Metal Bed FramesFurniture ministries often accept twin and full beds but not of all types. Call first.

-

Some thrift stores (like Goodwill) may accept them seasonally (perhaps Oct - Dec)
-
Clothing
Clean, undamaged clothing can be donated to the following stores:
Church Women United
Goodwill
Salvation Army

Toledo Gospel Rescue
Toledo Humane Society Thrift
... just to name a few. -
Countertops
-
Daybeds
We do not accept the frames or mattresses. Furniture ministries usually do accept clean twin mattresses - check to see if they want the frame as well. Two to consider: Mosaic Ministries 419-344-5844 and Epworth Furniture Ministry 567-694-3710.
-
Dishwashers
We tried accepting them for a while but had poor results, so they are back on the "not acceptable" list.
-
Entertainment Centers, China Cabinets and Armoires
We do accept TV stands (where the TV sits on top of the unit) but do not accept entertainment centers (where the TV sits within the unit). Some modular entertainment centers can be accepted as two bookcase cabinets and a TV cabinet but a photo is required in advance and any upper connecting pieces are not accepted. Any cabinet designed to hold a TV within is not acceptable. China cabinets measuring 45" or less in length will be considered - advance photo required. We have to decline gorgeous larger pieces all the time because they simply do not sell well for us because they are too big and/or heavy for most of our shoppers to transport. If you post such items on social media, you're likely to find that out for yourself.
-
Exercise Equipment
Posting to social media is a possible solution here. Some folks like to work out, others don't even like the idea of it. Our crews get plenty of exercise picking up items that sell well for us. Exercise equipment does not fall into that category.
-
Fluorescent Lighting and Bulbs
Home Depot and Lowe's accept compact fluorescent bulbs. They do not accept long tube fluorescent light bulbs.
Tube fluorescent light bulbs should not be placed in the trash and must be disposed of through an environmental recycling service for a fee.
Lucas County offers a local option, open to all Lucas County Residents and limited to individual households. No materials from business or industrial sites will be accepted. All you have to do is Register! Appointments available on Thursday and Saturday mornings. Please call 419-213-2230 and provide the type of material you plan to dispose and arrange a time for drop-off. Fluorescent bulbs are accepted at $1.00 each bulb.
Or another option is
ERG Environmental Services at 800-284-9107 or 419-354-6110 located in Bowling Green. -
Hazardous Materials
Lucas County offers a local option for recycling household hazardous waste. It is open to all Lucas County Residents and limited to individual households. No materials from business or industrial sites will be accepted.
All you have to do is Register! Appointments available on Thursday and Saturday mornings. Please call 419-213-2230 and provide the type of material you plan to dispose and arrange a time for drop-off. Please refer to their HHW Flyer for acceptable materials. The cost is $1.00/lb for everything with the exception of fluorescent bulbs (they are $1.00 each bulb).
Or another option is
ERG Environmental Services at 800-284-9107 or 419-354-6110 located in Bowling Green.
-
Mattresses & Box Springs
Furniture ministries usually do accept clean, undamaged mattresses in twin, full, and queen but not king size. Check to see if they want the box spring as well. Two to consider: Mosaic Ministries 419-344-5844 and Epworth Furniture Ministry 567-694-3710.
-
Medical Equipment of certain types - open for details
We do now accept general use items like crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, power scooters (must include good battery & charger). Must be clean, and in safe, working condition.
We do NOT accept hospital beds or hygienic items like commodes, CPAP machines, or specialty items.
-
Mirrors & Glass - unframed
Recycle Waste Services in Sylvania may accept these.
Contact them at 419-517-1323 for additional information. -
Monitors
It is our understanding that Goodwill accepts computer equipment for use in their technical training program. Please check with them.
-
Office Furniture
We can usually accept file cabinets, lobby and breakroom furniture, office chairs, and bookcases that are in good, resale-able condition.
Cubicles and commercial office desks just don't fit the needs of our customers who are most often looking for items for their homes. We accept desks up to 48" long (and not particle board) but larger desks are generally too large for the home.
Consider reaching out to business contacts (even the Bar Association, Chamber of Commerce, etc) if you have a large, exceptional quality desk, or conference table. Perhaps they can help you find a new or expanding commercial venture that can benefit from the items you no longer need as they are growing or getting started!
-
Pet Supplies
Whether its unopened pet food, accessories, or other paraphernalia there's probably an animal shelter nearby that can use it - either directly or indirectly.
Toledo Humane Society Thrift Shop (Reynolds Rd) and Nine Lives Thrift Shop (Heatherdowns) support the Humane Society and Maumee Valley Save a Pet respectively. They may be just the right place to donate your no longer needed pet items.
-
Pianos and Organs
Due to the weight and special handling required, we cannot accept these items.
Social media may be an option but many prefer the convenience of electronic keyboards instead these days. Goodwill may accept them too, but check first before hiring someone to deliver it to them!
-
Televisions
Lucas County offers a local option for recycling unwanted flat screen and/or box TVs.
Please refer to their HHW Flyer for additional information. The cost is $.50 per pound for each TV.
-

Or consider donating them (if clean and complete) to:
Goodwill
Salvation Army
St Vincent de Paul -

-
Used Toilets
We now accept only NEW toilets (effective 12/31/2025).
-
Wood Burners and Indoor Gas Fireplaces/Heaters
We will only accept working electric fireplaces. We will consider wood fireplace mantels on a case by case basis. We do accept outdoor patio heaters, firepits, and grills but without the fuel source.
-
Wood Ladders
Wood does weaken with time making wood ladders a safety concern. We will only accept aluminum and fiberglass ladders that we deem to be in safe operable condition and that include all the OSHA required safety labels.
